I worked with former VP of Growth at Eaze Yousuf Bhaijee and Reforge to define a method for calculating Word of Mouth, called Word of Mouth Coefficient. This same method was used in good effect at Zynga to determine which games had a higher chance of success, and we found it can be applied to all types of businesses. Knowing how to calculate word of mouth coefficient lets you better forecast future performance of your business, and also lets you track when big changes in virality happen, so you can optimize for it.
